Single paragraph analysis

1. What the paragraph is trying to do

This paragraph is trying to introduce social media advertising as a dissertation topic. It gives examples of celebrities, YouTubers and online engagement, then explains why the topic matters for young people and brands.

3. Where the chain breaks

1. “BTS have worked with brands and YouTubers also promote products.” The reader can see two examples, but not why they are being compared. Are you looking at celebrity endorsement, influencer marketing, fan engagement, or youth consumer behaviour? Question to answer: What do BTS and YouTubers show about social media advertising?
2. “These campaigns get likes and comments online.” This is useful, but it stops at description. The paragraph needs one more step explaining why likes and comments matter. Question to answer: Do likes and comments show attention, influence, brand loyalty, consumer engagement, or something else?
3. “My dissertation will look at this topic…” The dissertation focus is still broad. “This topic” could mean social media advertising generally, BTS, YouTubers, young people, or brand communication. Question to answer: What exactly will your dissertation investigate?
